The Foreign Minister of China Yang Jiechi is arriving in Kathmandu, Tuesday, on a three-day official visit.
Close on the heels of the visit by Foreign Minister of southern neighbor India, the foreign minister from the northern neighbor is coming to the country.
Just as the visit by Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee was the first visit by senior most Indian leader following the establishment of republic and formation of Maoist-led government, Jeichi’s visit, too, is the first such visit at the senior most level from China since the momentous changes took place in Nepal.
According to senior officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jeichi’s visit will be focused on peace process, political situation and bilateral relations.
His visit is also expected to lay the ground works for the official visit by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to China.
