After two weeks since the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) dropped the fuel prices, the government finally readjusted the fare of public transportation.
Following an all-party meeting on Saturday, the Ministry of Labour
and Transport Management (MoLTM) announced to decrease public transport fare (bus, microbus, etc) by six percent and taxi fare by seven.
Earlier, the public transport fare was increased by average 20 percent when the fuel prices hiked.
Several rounds of meeting between the MoLTM and the transport entrepreneurs held after the decrease in prices of petroleum products to review the transport fare had yielded no results. The entrepreneurs agreed to the fare readjustment only after the government said that it will further waive the tax.
